MODELS 1989-1990’s
The Suzuki Mehrans launch was in the year 1989, and it was the successor of the Suzuki FX. In its starting years, the car was powered by O.8 liter, F8b engine and produced approximately 40 hp. The cars siple and boxy design and a simple dashboard layout was on essential features without any unnecessary complications.
When the car was first launched it quickly gained popularity for its affordibility, low maintenance and fuel efficiency.
MODELS 2000-2010
Due to the success at the cars market in Pakistan, Suzuki kept producing Mehran but with minimal upgrades and cosmetic changes. These included:- Revised front and rear bumpers, new head lamps, and modernized interior.
The 0.8 liter F8b continued to power the engine, with very limited updates, no major updates were made. During these the only changes made for the F8b engines were improvement in fuel effeciency. One significant change was the introduction of compressed natural gas (CNG) for the car. CNG is not only cost effective but also has a ton of environmental benefits, such as the production of fewer harmful emissions. This change in Mehran made the car more appealing in the market, as it offered lower running costs and better fuel effeciency compared to traditional petrol powered models.

These years were the final decade of Mehran eventhough no remarkable changes were made throughout these years, the company made a few aesthetic changes in the car, which included new front grills and bumpers other than that, the car stayed remotedly the same with its F8b engine and manual design.
Up till 2019, Mehran had become a symbol of basic transportation with alot of people still using it, but it begain to face increasingly challenge as new, much safer cars had been launched in the market, for instance the Suzuki Alto and Daihatsu Cuore. These cars offers more modern features and had a better performance overall, thus increasing their production and popularity. It was this year that the production of Mehran discontinued and replaced by Suzuki Alto 660cc in Pakistan.
The discontinuation was mostly driven by the growing demand for much more safer vehicles.
